Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership

Learn to manage, develop, and empower an organization's most important resource: its people. In the online M.A. in Organizational Leadership at Saint Mary's University of Minnesota, you can become an adaptable, ethical, and tech-savvy leader who takes on organizational challenges, manages conflict, and develops those around you to reach their full potential.

Throughout the program, you'll build key leadership and people skills to develop a diverse way of thinking that can be applied immediately to your current role. Course Information

Organized as themes, this program provides students the knowledge and experience to define their own leadership style. Students learn both analytical and interpersonal skills such as influencing, collaborating, and managing conflict.

Applicants must submit:

  1. A completed application form
  2. $25 non-refundable application fee: Note that Saint Mary's alumni, students seeking readmission, veterans, and active military personnel are exempt from this application fee.
  3. Official transcripts: Must be issued to Saint Mary's University of Minnesota from the institution posting your completed bachelor's degree and other relevant transcripts documenting program prerequisites and potential transfer credit.
  4. A written statement: Use your written statement to highlight the things that set you apart from other candidates, including your interest in leadership, any previous experiences or personal strengths that contribute to your application, your career goals, and how a master's in organizational leadership will help you achieve them.
  5. A reflective essay which includes a brief description of your background, training, and experience, a description of the areas you consider to be your strengths and areas in which you wish to develop greater strengths and abilities, and any personal information you wish to share
  6. Two letters of reference or recommendation: Letters should speak to your academic ability and professional or volunteer experience, and how it relates to the online MAOL program.
  7. An up-to-date résumé: Include both your educational and professional experience.

Students need a minimum GPA of 2.75 on a 4.00 scale for regular admission into the program.

If your overall GPA is below 2.75, you may receive conditional status in the program at the discretion of the MAOL program director. 

International transcripts must be evaluated by a university-accepted evaluator.

Applicants with international transcripts may require an English language proficiency exam.
