Program Overview

Saint Mary's University of Minnesota's mission in public health is social justice driven. You will find yourself immersed in discussion and research about health equity and social determinants of health taught by professors with the same passion as you. Our course-contracted faculty members will share with you their real-world experience and knowledge.

A Master of Public Health from Saint Mary's will prepare you to:

  • Build a strong foundation in public health knowledge
  • Learn translation of evidence into practice, policy, and public health improvements
  • Apply your knowledge into practice through fieldwork and summative courses
  • Work in a variety of positions within government, healthcare, industry, and non-profit agencies

You'll focus on understanding persistent and emerging public health issues and learn to advocate for systemic solutions, including addressing health disparity in all communities.

Course Information

Preparing public health leaders, this program provides study in a diverse range of topics in public health. Along with the coursework, it includes both field work and an integrative capstone experience.

Applicants must submit:

  1. Completed application form
  2. Non-refundable application fee
  3. Official transcripts posting the applicant’s completed bachelor degree
  4. Other relevant official transcripts documenting potential transfer credits
  5. International transcripts must be evaluated by a university-accepted evaluator
  6. A reflective essay which includes a brief description of the applicant’s background, training, and experience, a description of the areas the applicant considers to be their strengths and areas in which the applicant wishes to develop greater strengths and abilities, and any personal information the applicant wishes to share
  7. Two recommendations that verify professional and/or volunteer experience and/or academic ability
  8. A current résumé listing educational background and work experience
  9. Applicants with international transcripts may require an English language proficiency exam
