Join a Community of Learners
The M.Ed. in Teaching and Learning is wholly devoted to creating a learning environment that promotes collaboration and inspires teachers in their professional growth. Are you passionate about the pursuit of knowledge while learning within a community? This non-traditional program is learner-centered, active, community-based, and focuses on your specific research needs or interests. The program provides hands-on, practical, and meaningful course content allowing you to implement what you learned on Saturday in your classroom on Monday morning. Each course is taught by an expert practitioner currently working in the field who has an earned doctorate or master's degree. Our blended delivery model includes face-to-face meetings one Saturday a month supplemented with online learning. Collaborate online with other M.Ed. learners who teach in the same grade level and/or content area and access a wealth of specialized resources culled specifically for educators. Throughout the length of the program, experience learning in an interdependent community setting where you will build trust with your colleagues that enables a unique, dynamic level of learning. The program's culminating project is to lead a roundtable dialog focused on your final action research at a program-wide professional conference. You can earn your master's degree within this 36-credit program in only 16-18 months!
Spring and Fall Conferences
All year one and year two learners participate in the spring conference on the Twin Cities Campus. At the spring conference, year two learners lead a seminar focused on their action research findings and facilitate discussions around concepts related to their research. Year two learners also participate in a fall conference on the Twin Cities Campus.
Graduates of this program work with learners in a variety of educational settings. Although most are K-12 classroom teachers, some teach within adult education programs, in early childhood settings, or in juvenile corrections and support programs that are classroom-based. This program does not lead to teacher licensure.
Offered at our Twin Cities campus, Rochester Center, and select off-campus locations this program is designed with working, adult learners in mind. Classes typically meet one Saturday per month blended with online learning.
M.Ed. learners explore aspects of teacher identity and examine best practices and theory as part of individual, community, and program-wide learning experiences. Learners will connect inquiry to their discipline and apply their learning directly to their classroom.

Other relevant official transcripts documenting potential transfer credits
International transcripts must be evaluated by a university-accepted evaluator
A reflective essay which includes a brief description of the applicant’s background, training, and experience, a description of the areas the applicant considers to be their strengths and areas in which the applicant wishes to develop greater strengths and abilities, and any personal information the applicant wishes to share
Two recommendations that verify professional and/or volunteer experience and/or academic ability
A current résumé listing educational background and work experience
Applicants with international transcripts may require an English language proficiency exam.
